Z Ship’cook Course

This framework is designed to introduce the basic knowledge and training required by those who are seeking to become prospective a good chef on the ship. The Fundamental subjects are based on familiarization to Ship’s Cook, Hygiene, Method of Cooking and Storage System, Safety and Security, Fire safety, culinary items, Food preparation etc.
This course aims to assist the competent authority in the implementation of MLC, 2006 Article 2(1)(a) of the convention defines the competent authority as the minister, government department or other authority having the power issue and enforce regulation order or other instructions in respect of the subject matters of the provision concerned.

Z Objective

The trainee should be able to demonstrate the ability to:
To be able to cook International Cuisine.
Awareness of Hygiene.
Awareness of Health and Safety.
Awareness of Job safety and Security.
Awareness of Environmental Protection.

Z Learning Outcome

Ship’s Cooks will be able to prepare a range of tasty, healthy meals for the entire crew. They will be capable of being responsible for food procurement and food supply management. They organize and oversee all galley activities, supervise their staff (Stewards) and apply ship galley safety and health standards.
